What are SS 15-5 PH Round Bar?
15-5 is a chromium-nickel-copper precipitation hardening stainless steel variant of the older 17-4. 15-5 Ph bars are created to have greater toughness than 17-4 PH. The structure of a SS 15-5 PH Bar is martensitic in the annealed situation and is strengthened by a low-temperature heat treatment which precipitates alloy containing copper phase. The bar or alloy also belongs to XM-12 if specified. Such stainless steel bars are also called XM-12 or UNS S15500. The bar has a better refined micro outline which contributes to the remelting method in which it was created. And this refined outline improves toughness in the slanting direction of the substance.
